Dragnethar
Overview
Dragnethar is a browser based MMORPG that I helped develop during my time at Coralis Studios. The game takes place on the fictional continent of Almantra, a land inhabited by both humans and magical creatures. Players seek to survive in this land which is dominated by both magic and steel.

My responsibilities as a game designer was to create enemies and equipment and allocate their stats in the game's backlog. I also helped to write flavor text and conduct play testing to ensure that enemies were balanced

Worldbuilding
When designing the enemies and equipment for Dragnethar, I had to make sure that I stuck with the creative vision of my employer. This meant many consultation sessions to ensure that I was not going of course.

For example, when creating a new insectoid enemy, I consulted my Employer whether they would fit the theme of the game. When I was given the greenlight, I gave them stats, created their item drops and placed them in a humid jungle region in Almantra because arthropods favor such climates.

When allocating the stats for these insectoids, I opted to give them high defense, to represent the hard exoskeletons that modern arthropods have. I decreased their speed, as these enemies were meant to be large and cumbersome as well. Lastly, I had the enemies drop chitin, which is a term for the shells of insects, which the player could use in the game's crafting recipe.
